Start-Up Advice For Hard TimesIs it a good time to start? The answer, given the current state of the economy and difficulties faced by SMEs in gaining access to financing suggests not, but nevertheless, there is reason for optimism.

There is a fairly well-known argument that says that it is in the great economic crisis when a good design can make a difference, standing out from the competition. In addition we provide four more reasons.

Our times offer ideal conditions for starting a new business project; the economic crisis offers great opportunities for talented young people who are willing to risk everything for a great business idea. Everyone should think and consider all factors and opportunities before taking the final decision.

Especially now that almost all media (including ours) reports daily the difficulties faced by enterprises in accessing credit, bills receivables, cope with falling consumption, etc. And there are some optimists around who still think that this is not a bad time, and others just say that the best way out of unemployment is to build our own business plan. Among the main reasons we find the following:

Motivated and talented

Unfortunately, a major consequence of the economic crisis is that an important part of human talent that had once existed in companies has gone to swell the ranks of unemployed. In addition, many students who were recruited before even finishing their studies for large multinationals now want to find a job in accordance with their academic qualifications. By this we mean that right now we have access to a large base of talented, highly motivated, and 'may be willing to embark on new ventures' professionals. We have at this time the opportunity to connect with people that, in other conditions, will never be accessible to us.

In the kingdom of the blind...

There is a saying that affirms that "In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king". That is, just now when the situation seems chaotic, new business opportunities can arise precisely to meet new needs as a result of the crisis. And is that some sectors in the crisis, rather than harmed, are benefiting. This applies to companies such as fast food restaurants, business outsourcing and so on...

If we are to start a new project, we must be able to identify the opportunities that arise as a consequence of the current crisis. Our strong point is that we are small, agile, and can make strategic decisions long before the big players in the sector in which we want to be. The crisis also opens new market niches, and new technologies are making our projects much cheaper.

The technology at our service

If we are to start a new business, with pleasure we will find that the initial investment we need to make is minimal. If we want to choose a project online (strongly recommended) we not even need an office, we can work from our house. And thanks to new technologies we can very easily build a team of employees and manage our projects online. Thanks to the popularity of Web 2.0, more services online are free (or for a small monthly fee) and this is available for the new entrepreneurs. This doesn’t means that we need to manage emails or office suites but also fulfill some more important tasks, such as project management, online meetings, event planning, CRM, billing and administration, etc. We could say that our company is where there is an Internet connection, either in our house, either on our cell phone. Never before could have done so much with so few resources.

The credit will flow

Many people think that the worst of the economic crisis has passed. Furthermore, after a few months that seemed impossible to gain access to credit and financing, people are gradually feeling that the first signs of having credits appear.

In 2010, the access to financing will be back to normal, despite not having the same levels as before the crisis. It is also plausible that financial institutions will lower the very high demands being presented today to the companies.

We can be unique

We are confident that a large part of our readers are now convinced that now they can consider an opportunity to start a new business. This idea also is extremely logical. If any, for a moment "lost their heads" and takes the step of launching a new career, the only person who bets on a new market niche with great potential growth is ready to succeed.

And it is far easier to succeed when we only have one or two competitors on the horizon, than when we are engaged in a major marathon where nobody will listen to our voice.
