Vitamin E DietA new study using animals measured the performance of different forms of vitamin E in bone formation quality. In the study, it was discovered that gamma tocotrienol was the form that best supported multiple facets of bone integrity during the normal progression of bone formation.

The experiment was performed on male rats that were a given a diet augmented with plain vitamin E (alpha tocopherol), delta tocotrienol, gamma tocotrienol, or a control (olive oil). The animals were then sacrificed after 4 months, dissected and the quality of their bone construction was examined. While all the forms of vitamin E resulted in higher quality bones in contrast to the control group, the gamma tocotrienol group showed the best perfomance.

Conclusion of study

This study indicates the possibility that ingestion of tocotrienols on a regular basis will assist in the continuing process of bone remodeling, promoting higher quality bone formation.
