Toilet Installation: How To Replace A Toilet

Changing a toiletAt first glance, the task to replace a toilet may seem to be a very complicated exercise, but it is actually easier than it seems. You do not need a lot of materials and you won't face too many complications.

Getting started

Obviously, it is necessary to remove the old toilet first before replacing. The old toilet is fixed to the floor with screws and a layer of plaster on which it is based. To remove the old toilet, proceed as follows:

  1. Cut off the water supply.
  2. Disconnect the hose from the tank and remove the screws that secure the toilet to the floor.
  3. Then, follow the cast through the cup with lateral movements.
  4. With a cloth, clog the drain hole below the toilet to prevent odour.
  5. Scrape and remove all the remaining traces of plaster on the floor.

Materials and tools

To install the new toilet you need the following materials:

  • Gypsum
  • Glass putty
  • Rubber gasket
  • The new toilet
And the following tools:
  • Screwdriver
  • Drill
  • Brocas WIDI
  • Palette bricklayer

New toilet installation

One thing to take into account while installing a new toilet is that it must have the drainage pipe of the same size and in the same position as the previous one.

The steps involved are:

  1. Support the toilet bowl on the exact site, on the ground, and mark the points where the screws are to be fitted.
  2. With the drill and drill HW, make the holes and check that they coincide with the screw holes.
  3. To ensure proper drainage of toilet water, use putty around the area in abundance and ensure that it is sealed but not clogging the drain hole.
  4. Use nails in the drill holes made, to hold the toilet, without having it dislocate.
  5. Prepare the plaster (not too thick). Lift the toilet slightly and apply plaster on the floor, just below the toilet seat, in a place where you want to fix it. Let it dry.
  6. Replace screws and tighten them firmly. But be careful not to break the material.
  7. Connect the pipe from the tank to the cistern attached to the toilet.
  8. Finally, press the flusher to open the passage of water and check that it is operating correctly.
