Alarm SystemAn alarm is used to detect intruders and generally discourage them. But beware, it is not there to protect you if the intruder decides to ignore the alarm signal and prefers to continue with his actions.

Basic Operation:

An alarm system is based on a closed circuit of sensors and detectors, connected to a central box that receives any signals of any event or occurrence, and sounds the siren when necessary.

It has a mechanism that raises an anti-sabotage jump alarm, if someone cuts a cable, tries to manipulate the siren or the central cashier. It also has a system that is used to connect or disconnect the alarm device, either using a key or a numeric keypad which provides a particular time to disconnect the alarm. The system is protected by a battery that will operate even if there is a power cut.

Components:

  • Alarm - It may be audio (bell or siren) or visual (light signal).
  • Central Fund - Contains the electronic component that receives signals from sensors and sends order to activate the siren or light.
  • Detector Volume - It is an electronic detection system used domestically, based on the discovery of motion.
  • Infrared Detector - Is based on the detection of heat.
  • Ultrasonic Detector - In this case, the system detects sounds (broken windows, attempt to break door locks, etc.)

Other Components:

A button that sounds the alarm if the system is disconnected. A magnet placed strategically, e.g., on windows (It consists of two parts, which when separated, trigger the alarm).

Types of Alarm:

A wide range of anti-theft alarms exist (some are even suitable for installation by amateurs). They can be distinguished into the following categories:

  • Systems that sound an alarm if someone tries to break into a house.
  • Systems that sound an alarm if some intruder is detected inside the house.

Advice

  • Make sure the alarm is sufficiently loud.
  • It should have an automatic stop device set to 20 minutes, so that in case of a false alarm it does not cause discomfort.
  • Keep checking the components regularly to avoid false alarms.
