Mercedes Grand Prix unveiled its 2010 W01 Formula One single-seater at the Mercedes-Benz Museum. 25th January was the day of the launch, which marked Mercedes as the first car manufacturer to formally launch its car livery at a media event.
The Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, on of the biggest and most famous car museums in the world, provided the opportunity for Mercedes GP to display its entry for 2010. Excitement on the evening grew further with the announcement that the car will be exhibited on the pit lane of Valencia's Ricardo Tormo Circuit shortly.
W01, with its strikingly designed front wing, claims to have multiple distinct features than its contenders in 2010. The new nose at first does make one think about the Brawn BGP01 but is actually very different. Ross Brawn and team have been working on the Mercedes W01 since halfway of 2009 and have come up with quite a radical design and a well developed car. The engine cover of the car is entirely different from that of McLaren Mercedes, BMW or Renault, due to its shorter length and having no connection to the rear wing.
The scheduled debut at the Ricardo Tormo circuit has Mercedes being added to the list of teams including Renault F1, BMW Sauber, Williams and Toro Rosso, that have chosen Valencia to unveil their 2010 F1 cars.
