Aprilia Shiver 750The new horse on the block from Aprilia is the Shiver 750. This dressed down version of the mean machine is a sure stunner and has bike lovers in frenzy. The modular steel trellis frame that supports the engine tilted at 90 degrees makes sure that you sit up and take notice of this one!

With a weight of around 420 lbs and a seat height of a round 32 inches the Shiver is not built for a heavyweight and suits an average rider easily. The 750 cc liquid cooled engine gives a power of 95 HP at 9000 rpm and the response is so good that everyone feels like doing a few wheelies on this one. The vroom of the 2-1-2 exhaust is beautiful if you are a bike lover! (Then you won’t be reading this, will you?) The exhaust silencers are triangular and add to the looks and sound as well.

The Shiver comes with a single analog tachometer that comes with an inbuilt LCD display that integrates all the indicators and meters. The gear indicator, fuel indicator and warning lights are all displayed on the LCD panel. With a 4.22 gallon fuel tank the low fuel warning is quite prominent and rightly so.

The throttle responses are instant with Aprilia’s integrated engine management system and Ride By Wire (RBW) technology has also been integrated in this machine. The Shiver also comes with three riding modes - rain, sport and touring. The LCD panel shows you the mode you are driving in, which can be selected by the starter button.

The suspension is handled by a non-adjustable front fork and adjustable rear shocks which were quite adequate and performed without a hitch. Aprilia has provided the Shiver with an advanced wet multi plate clutch that is hydraulically operated. The shifting was so smooth that you did not feel it and the Shiver was taking everything in its stride without a shiver actually!

The braking is taken care of by four steel braided piston calipers at the back and a single stainless steel caliper up front. The braking is adequate for a bike with such options for riding as sport, touring and rain. But as you can recall this is a dressed down version and is as naked as they come with not even a windshield to protect you if you are touring! It might be advisable to get yourself one from the range of accessories that Aprilia offers its customers if you plan on taking your Shiver for longer rides! You might also want to add an exhaust system to add some more zip to it!

So get set and vroom!
