Reliance Jio is all set to be back with a bang but this with their plan to make 4G available for everyone. The official launch is said to anytime around August 15. With Samsung and Apple joining hands with Jio, they are already offering unlimited 4G data for 3 months in their selective devices. The company is soon to roll out their commercial launch too.
After receiving the much required approvals from the telecom department on July 7 from Rajasthan, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, it will take the company 4-6 weeks more to set up the network there. The readiness in these 4 circles is high.
With the projects investment going more than Rs. 1.5 lakh crore, it is said to be the world’s biggest startup. Ever since the company won the pan-India 4G airwaves auction in the year 2010, the company had been working for over 6 years for this launch and to be back bigger and better.
The company is already spend over Rs.1.34 lakh crore for the network setup, spectrum and including other expenses. And they are likely to cover over 90% of the population in 2 years span after its official launch. It has already achieved 70% so far. This had led the company’s competitors like Airtel to cut down their pre-paid data pack pricing in India in order to retain their customers. Now this can mean a slight threat to Jio as comparatively Airtel is likely to offer better speed and connection at a much lower price. Following this, Idea too has announced price cuts on their data packs. Now this is soon going to make the competition tougher and it is yet to be seen how Reliance Jio fares with its large scale entry.
