Windows Phone 7 Will Have Flash 10.1: Android & Blackberry Too

Adobe Flash 10.1Just in case there were any ongoing questions whether or not Flash will be coming to the Windows Phone Series 7, you will be happy to hear that Mike Chambers from Microsoft has stated that they are partnering with Adobe to introduce Flash 10.1 to its most recent mobile OS.

Really, this is quite consistent to what Microsoft was stating earlier this week in a press conference, however it is great to get a solid endorsement.

The Windows Phone Series 7 from Microsoft will, in addition, pair up with Silverlight and it might be intriguing to find out if there will be a battle in the development tools arena due to this.

What's next for Adobe Flash?

This is an new indicator that Adobe is gaining ground in the mobile domain. At year's end, there should be Flash 10.1 supported on webOS, higher-end devices for Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and possibly the latest platform from Microsoft (though that probably won't be out until 2011). However there do remain some issues regarding battery and smartphone performance when it comes to using mobile Flash, however Adobe seems to be addressing these with possible hardware acceleration.

Will iPhone or iPad Get Flash?

Obviously, the important missing players are the iPhone and iPad from Apple. Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, doesn't take a liking to Flash because of performance problems, however, this may soon change and Flash may finally get its eager foot into the App Store. If Flash can find its way on almost all every other platform out there, then Adobe may be able to push Apple because of sheer public pressure. With more than 70 million users of the iPhone, its going to be all-out battle between Adobe and Apple as they try and convince website developers to either employ or drop Flash from their websites in order to attract more smartphone users.
