Create WebsiteNewcomers in the IT world will always ask where they should start from if they want to create their own website. Everything is so new to them and they will be banging their heads just trying to start.

If you have the right start than it is not impossible to create your own website. There are 5 steps involved in creating a website which are:

  1. Choosing a Domain Name

    Domain name is the name of your website. For example,"google.com" is the domain name for Google's website. You have to pay & register to get the domain name from domain registrars just like how you register for a business in the real world. Getting a domain name does not mean you got the website, it's just a name.
  2. Signing Up with a Web Hosting Company

    In simple term, a web hosting company is a company that owns many pc and they are all connected to the Internet. If you want everyone from every corner of the world to be able to view your website you have to put your web pages in their computer. You will have to sign up for an account with a web hosting company and pay a certain amount of fee which is based on your requirements.
  3. Designing your Website

    You can design your website or hire someone to do it. If you plan to design it yourself, you can use HTML web editors or WYSIWYG web editors. But do consider using WYSIWYG web editors such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver because it is the easiest way to design a website for beginners. "WYSIWYG" means "What You See Is What You Get" which basically means this web editors allow you to drag and drop the design without worrying about the technical details.
  4. Testing your Website

    You need to test your web pages throughout the designing phase. You have to make sure each link, button, form and all other feature on your page is functioning well. Also test your web pages in major web browsers such as Internet Explorer & Mozilla Firefox. These web browsers are a free product and you can download them from the Internet. You have to install these browsers on your computer before you can use them. You have to make sure that your web pages works on different browsers because different people will be using different browsers.
  5. Promoting your Website

    Promoting your website is really important. Once your website is ready you would want people to come to your website and this can be done in many ways. Some ways to promote your website includes advertising in newspaper or places like Yahoo & Google, sending newsletter, putting up links in other websites, having some kind of offer like free sign-up or even the traditional way which is by word of mouth.
These are just basic steps to create a website which will get you started and geared up.
