Computer viruses are something that is really common nowadays. It comes in many form such as email attachments & web downloads. Once your computer is infected by a virus the effect could be from an annoying pop-up message to lost of data or blue screen, depending on the complexity of the virus.
As the saying goes "prevention is better than cure", here are some tips to help protect your PC from being infected.
- Install antivirus software on your pc and keep it updated.
- Scan your pc at least once a week to make sure your pc is free from any viruses.
- Do not open or download attachments especially .exe files from unknown emails. You will activate the virus by opening the attachment.
- Be careful of free downloads because hackers do love to spread viruses in this form. Always download your software or needed files from reliable sources.
- Beware of flashing banners that says your computer is infected by a virus and you need to download a patch to get rid of it.
- Block the pop-up ads because at times they could be the source of a virus too.
